Robert Lewis Stephenson, author of 'Treasure Island,' said :
"To be what we are and to become what we are capable of becoming,
is the only end of life."
The son of good Presbyterians, Robert's focus is truly on Jesus' blessings of abundant life now and His gift to us of Eternal life at our death. We are capable Christians, becoming more Christ-like with each passing month.
Apostle Paul believes you are capable and indicates it here,
12 Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal, but I press on to lay hold of that for which Christ has laid hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have laid hold of it, but one thing I have laid hold of: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal, toward the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14
Paul is right. We need a Holy Spirit inspired relationship to Jesus Christ that is completely solid and assuredly trusting in Him. Similar to the farmer who is plowing the field to plant new seeds, focus on the Heavenly Father given goal ahead and press onward. Look neither right or left, but set your sight steadfastly forward.
With you in Christ Jesus, Rev. Patricia E. Walker
