In Matthew 25, when the ten pure bridesmaids fall asleep waiting for the bridegroom, they are anticipating being awakened by the man who yells out in the streets that the bridegroom is coming. It’s tradition. So when they awaken to the announcement that the bridegroom is coming, five of the bridesmaids realize that they do not have enough oil to last through the night.
When they ask the other five for some of their oil the distressful answer is “no” because there will not be enough for the other five to last the night. Hurriedly, the foolish bridesmaids who did not prepare themselves for the announcement of the bridegroom, rush into the night to get oil refills. And when they return the door is shut and they are refused entrance when the bridegroom says, “I do not know you.”
Jesus knows you; you are Heavenly Father’s anointed holy child. You are Jesus’ disciple filled with the Holy Spirit, like at Pentecost. Through His parable Jesus allows us to understand that He is the Bridegroom and He unites with His Church folks in heaven prior to His return to us here. You are to be prepared each week for His return for no one knows the day or the hour in which He will return except for Heavenly Father.
Question: How do you keep oil in the lamp of your heart, your faith,
which is needed for His return?
