The Olympics and Christ

You who sit down in the High God’s presence,    spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.    I trust in you and I’m safe!” Psalm 91:1

During the Olympics in Paris I was struck by so many athletes giving glory to Jesus after they won their competition.  Many raised their hands in praise to Him and touched their hearts with uplifted faces.  This reminded me that they were relying on Christ’s strength every moment, as they found refuge with Him

For instance, after winning the Gold Medal one of the runners was interviewed and asked, “What was your training like to get to the Olympics?”  I yearned for her to ask him to tell us more about his relationship with Christ so that we would hear his witness is s about the joyful and helpful relationship that he has with his Savior—how real and personal He is and that He cares in every way for him, and us!

To abide in the shadow of our Lord is to be constantly aware of His Presence, and having that glorious kind of confidence because He is there with you.  It means a caring and constant discussion with Him about all of your life.  And what glorious realization over and over again that He is all that you need.

Blessings as you move forward in Discipleship, Rev. Walker
