The Blood Of Jesus

If you’re ever given the privilege of sharing Jesus with someone—especially the power of His perfect sacrifice on the Cross—Hebrews 9 is a wonderful place to begin. It speaks with deep reverence and clarity about what Jesus has done for us.

In Hebrews 9:16-22, we learn that when Jesus died, He didn’t just suffer on earth—He also entered a heavenly sanctuary, one not made with human hands, but established by the Heavenly Father Himself. In that sacred moment, Jesus’ will—His covenant of grace—was set into motion.

“For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.” (Hebrews 9:16)

What an incredible truth: Jesus' death activated His will—one in which He gives us Himself. He stands in our place, removing condemnation and offering forgiveness to all who believe.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us of the Old Covenant, when Moses sprinkled blood on the scroll, the people, and everything used in worship. This wasn’t a random act—it was God's way of showing the people that blood was necessary for purification. Moses declared,

“This is the blood of the Covenant that God has ordained for you.” (Hebrews 9:20)

And then, centuries later, Jesus echoed that sacred moment. During the Last Supper, He lifted a cup, gave thanks, and said:

“Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the New Covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:27-28)

Jesus didn’t speak those words lightly. His heart longs for you to be forgiven—not just in word, but in spirit and truth. His blood was poured out so that you could live—truly live—both now and for eternity.

Because of Jesus, we are free. Free from guilt. Free from shame. Free to walk in newness of life, with hope and joy in our hearts.

Praise be to Jesus—the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

16 Where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. 17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. 18 Hence not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood. 19 For when every commandment had been told to all the people by Moses in accordance with the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the scroll itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God has ordained for you.” 21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship. 22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:16-22
