For this Gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher, and for this reason I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know the One in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that He is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him. 2 Timothy 1:11-12
Paul is sure of three things. First, he is certain of his personal experience of Christ. His favorite intro is, "Let me tell you what happened on the road to Damascus ..." Second, he is sure of the Love of God. He writes: We know that all things work together for good to them that love God. Third, He is positive that he has eternal life. "I know the One in whom I have put my trust."
How can you have these certainties? Let God have no rivals in your life-- do not love money more than God, place sports persons or leaders as your idols, nor let anger rule in your heart. Let no sin cling to you-- recognize sin within yourself, plain and simple, and command it in the Name of Jesus Christ to leave, to cut away from you. And let New Testament Scriptures be your focus for growth and maturity-- study a book of the Bible each day and use the Scriptures. Use Alpha Church.
Jesus loves you and wants you to be certain and sure. His joy is your joy. His love is your love. Place all your hope in Jesus each moment and ask Him what you need to know, do, and choose as He chooses. And use prayer; pray in Jesus' Name.
To God be the Glory
