…forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13
The above passage from Philippians is one of the most outstanding Scriptures in our entire Bible. It instructs us on how to obtain the key to both mental health and abundant living a a Christian today.
First, we are to forget what is behind us. Learn from what has happened yesterday, and move on to the present. If corrections need to be made then make them today. We are to do our prayerful best with our present situation. If a change needs to be made, make it. We are not to remain in a situation that we feel is out of alignment with right living as God directs us We are blessed to be a blessing.
Next, look to the days ahead with faith. Rely on God’s goodness and mercy. Be about Christ’s business of extending loving kindness, offering encouragement and gracious hospitality, and forging forgiveness and open communications. In other words, Respond (forget what lies behind), Rebound (and straining forward), and Redirect (press on toward the goal).

Those jobless and the hungry persons in our world.
Persons recovering from hurricanes and earthquakes.
Those in war torn areas, for Christ’s strength and Peace as they are guided by Holy Spirit.
A young girl who has just been diagnosed with cancer for a second time, Christ’s healing. Prayers for her family as they help their daughter/sister.
Jennie, and her family as there are heartbroken over the loss of her young grandson.
For missionaries, their safety and for God’s shield of protection as they witness for Christ.
