Mary To Bethlehem

Updated: Jun 9, 2019

Nazareth was Jesus' mother's hometown and a thirtyfour hour walk South to Bethlehem. Mary went with Joseph to register in Bethlehem. She and Joseph could not make haste because Mary was very near her delivery date and the journey an agonizing one on the back of a humble donkey.

Through Prophet Micah Jesus' birth town was announced: Bethlehem, you are one of the smallest towns in Judah, but out of you I will bring a Ruler for Israel whose family goes back to ancient times. (Micah 5:2) Mary's family roots went through ancient king David, the Messiah's prophesied lineage.

Later, the Ruler for Israel would come that route on humble donkey for His triumphal entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday with His face set to die on the Cross for our salvation. Out of God's love Jesus is given to us with purpose, potential, and promises. "This IS My Son," God says, "Listen to Him." Luke 9:35 Listen, listen for blessings.

To God be the Glory!
